Mandate of KVK

The mandate of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) encompasses several key objectives:

• 1.Technology Assessment and Refinement: KVKs assess the location-specific applicability of agricultural technologies and refine them to suit local conditions through on-farm trials.
• 2.Technology Demonstration: KVKs demonstrate the application of proven agricultural technologies on farmers' fields to showcase their effectiveness in real-world conditions.
• 3.Capacity Building: KVKs provide hands-on training and capacity-building programs for farmers, rural youth, and extension workers, focusing on skill development and knowledge enhancement in various aspects of agriculture.
• 4.Advisory Services: KVKs offer need-based advisory services and guidance to farmers on crop production, pest management, soil health, and other related areas.
• 5.Extension Activities: KVKs engage in a wide range of extension activities, including field days, seminars, workshops, and exhibitions, to disseminate agricultural knowledge and innovations to a broader audience.

• On-Farm Testing (OFT) to assess the location specificity of agricultural technologies under micro-farming situation.
• Out scaling of farm innovations through Front Line Demonstration (FLD) to showcase the worth of technologies on farmers’ fields.
• Capacity development of farmers and extension personnel to update their knowledge and skills in agricultural technologies & enterprises.
• Work as Knowledge and Resource Centre for improving overall agricultural economy in the operational area.
• Conduct frontline extension programmes and provide farm advisories using ICT and other media.
• Data documentation, characterization, and strategic planning of farming practices.
